I just spooled my new reel with the RIO steelhead/salmon WF9F. After talking with the product design guy of this reel, that is the line he suggested for that reel. One comment he made was it's a large arbor and that line needs that to preform and went on to say that most that don't like that line have smaller arbors. For someone that could of sold me his product and didn't I have to lean towards some truth in his advice. If the damn snow will stop .. I will let ya all know how it makes out after the weekend Sad

I am also in the market for a new line. I have used the Rio on my 8wt single hand rod for the past 5yrs and liked it. Would like to try something different. I was into Doak's last week looking at lines. They do not carry the Airflo 6th sense. Their best selling line is the Scientific Anglers Mastery GPX. Anyone have any experience with this line?

I had one and liked it but I believe it is a heavier line for fast rods; the one I had was 8wt but was advertised as being equivalent to 8.5wt.

Thanks for the advice Wannafish. I went with the SA GPX line even though I have a Sage Launch rod(Medium-fast action). I talked to a number of experienced fisherman who agreed it was a good line. Most also did not have a favourable opinion of the Airflo lines. This seemed very surprising given the fact that many on this and other on line forums seemed to prefer Airflo products.

The Launch is a nice rod from what I've read; let us know how the line works out for you.
