First outing was an afternoon in Quarrieville with the spey rod and sink tip. One grilse to hand and a short fight with a salmon; wife reading on shore in the spring sun= very nice trip.

Some fruitless trips to the Medkeg early in the season again with the spey rod.

Early trout expedition on a couple local streams produced a few brookies and one male 16 inch rainbow that felt great on the little 7.5 foot 4wt rod. (double weighted nymph rig with indicator)

Last night I finally landed a brown trout on a streamer; something I've been trying to do every spring for the last six years; fumbled and let it go before I could manage a picture but it was a beauty, about 16 inches and nice and bright. It took the fly like a 10 lb salmon but came in quite easily; of course it was up against a 14 foot 9wt spey rod though.

Scnye stopped by on the Queen's birthday to give a pretty darn nice gift; I think he thinks it's for me to teach him to spey cast. Little does he know I also suck balls at spey casting  Laughing

First some #20 dry flies; six on a dime:

Then a 5/0 Durham Ranger! Boy do I owe this guy

John, if thats the case then we both suck balls so it cancels itself out. Either way we need to go fishing. As far as the DR goes, you owe me nothing. Lets just say its a small thanks for letting me set in on the Saturday morning sessions and share what little knowledge I know

John that is certainly a nice present from Stephen. An expertly tied Durham Ranger.

A late video I put together of some clips from 2015/16 Disclaimer; the fish beached was a nice 16 inch trout kept for someone at home

Well done John!
Of course my favorite scene was the whitewater sequence to start off the video.

Good job on those releases.
Did you hook all those fish on the same day up there in Juniper?  I have never had much luck from that side of the pool, I always wade over to the other side.

Thanks, yes that was a banner day for me in Juniper; 7 hooked and four landed in one afternoon of fishing. Same run of fish you got the big ones from that fall I believe
